Included within the pages of this blog are a collection of my goals and career plans at Tidewater Community College, some of my personal work from English 112, and my reflections on the class.

Who I am….

I am a Child of God. I find it amazing that God calls me One of Light. Additionally, I am a student, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a short-term missionary. I strive to live the life God has given me to the fullest and wish to honor Him in everything I do.

My goals and career plans as a student at Tidewater Community College:

Being unsure of what I wanted to actually pursue as a career, I decided TCC would offer me a wide selection of classes that would be transferable if I chose to attend another college in the future. I am currently enrolled in the Liberal Arts program because I wish to become fluent in the Spanish language. Even though I had taken four years of Spanish in high school, I believe this program may further develop reading, writing, and comprehension skills that are necessary when working with language. With the instruction I will recieve at TCC and potential four year college, I hope to also understand the English language even better and be able to either teach it as a second language or be able to help students format and write their papers and essays well. This may be something I do on the side, but it is a goal I wish to accomplish over the next several years. In addition, one of my biggest goals is to see people transformed by the Gospel of Christ. I want to be equipped to make people think and reason for themselves; while stirring them to pursue the heart of God, His purpose for their life, and to know why and what they believe. Furthermore, I enjoy working with people in settings that require excellent customer service. After working in an office setting dealing with customers over the phone I could find myself engaged in a job as such. I can also picture myself training and equipping individuals to rise to a higher standard in the workplace in every area. I chose TCC because it is much cheaper than a four year college. Being unsure of exactly what I wanted to do, I believe it was the wisest decision for me to come to TCC and work toward an associate. I'm not sure where the Lord will lead me next, but I plan on taking more classes at Regent University where I'll be further equipped and challenged in more elective classes. Furthermore, I am excited to continue learning and to be able to apply what I am learning to my everyday life. I am enrolled at TCC with a purpose to learn new things, be a witness and an example for Christ, and be able to fine tune and develop the areas I am gifted in so that I may be effective in the home and the workplace.

> Immigration: What about the Women and Children?
This essay was the first of my essays in English 112. Though I enjoyed all three of the essays, this composition was most enjoyable because I had to pick apart and describe the different elements in a photograph. Since I have a desire for people to look beyond just the surface, rather to dig below and find the true meaning in all areas of life, this essay gave me room to exercise these skills.

> Reflection on English 112
Step into my peice of the puzzle by examining my thoughts as a reader, writer and critical thinker in English 112. This brief essay outlines my likes, dislikes, and growth in specific areas having taken this course.
